Technology has dramatically changed the way we locate, access, and share information, which means the way we learn has changed. We are no longer confined by traditional teaching methods, nor are we bound by the physical walls of a classroom. In this Information Age, anyone with an internet connection can locate and participate in invaluable, meaningful learning opportunities anytime, anywhere, and at their own pace.
The SCS Tech Savvy Circuit is offered as a way for our teachers to personalize their professional development as they discover new ways to integrate digital learning into their classrooms. Unlike traditional PD, in which a group of educators gather together in the same room and earn renewal credit based on the length of the workshop or training, our digital badging program provides educators with an opportunity to harness the power of digital learning to pursue professional knowledge through non-traditional pathways that are:
The SCS Tech Savvy Circuit is a series of digital challenges that invites SCS teachers to acquire new skills, build identity and reputation within our district, and create pathways for continued learning and leadership, all while earning credits towards the NC Digital Learning Competency requirement for teacher licensure. The challenges are optional and are to be completed individually. As each challenge requires something different of the learner, they also emphasize applying the new skills and knowledge in the classroom and reflecting on how things went with students. To get started, simply click on one of the badges below and complete the challenge requirements at your own pace (in your pajamas, if you like!) Once completed, the Digital Teaching and Learning (DTL) team will send you a certificate that you can submit for renewal credit, along with a digital badge to display on your website, within your email signature, or to print out and display in your classroom. Most of the badges are designed to take about an hour to complete, but some earn up to .5 CEUs. Want to know more about how badge requests are evaluated? Click on the rubric below for more information on the process. Have more questions? Feel free to contact Theresa Carroll. The DTL team is available, as needed, for guided instruction and follow up. |
